As we continue our expansion and automation strategy for 2026, we are looking for a highly qualified and motivated Head of Accountancy to lead our accounting department and uphold the firm’s commitment to excellence.

The Role

The Head of Accountancy will oversee all accounting operations within the firm, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across client portfolios. This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing the accounting team, reviewing financial statements, maintaining audit and compliance standards, and supporting the Director in implementing automation and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the accounting team, providing training, mentorship, and quality control.
Review and finalise financial statements, management accounts, and tax computations.
Oversee client portfolio management and ensure high service standards.
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, Companies Act, and HMRC regulations.
Support and supervise audit assignments where applicable.
Collaborate with the Director to drive efficiency through automation and digital transformation.
Maintain strong client relationships and provide strategic financial insights.

Requirements

Must hold a recognised professional qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, ICAS, or CAI).
Valid auditor qualification and eligibility to act as a Responsible Individual (RI) is advantageous.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in UK accountancy or audit practice.
Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting and tax regulations.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage).
