Your self-employed income was more than £1,000 (the trading allowance) in the tax year.
Your income from property was more than £1,000, or more than £7,500 under Rent a Room.
You received more than £10,000 in untaxed savings interest, or more than £10,000 in dividends.
You sold assets such as property or shares and have Capital Gains Tax to pay (gains above the £3,000 annual exempt amount).
You have income from abroad that must be reported to HMRC.
You or your partner have income over £60,000 and receive Child Benefit (High Income Child Benefit Charge), unless it is collected through PAYE.
